“Squad of Metaverse ” is a code name to a group formed by young artists of cross-strait Chinese who are willing to exchange idea through art activity. After five days of “boot camp” style expedition, their “mission” ended on July 11, a ceremony of achievement was held in the Taiwan Guild Hall in Beijing. The creative works about their field trip were showcased to the general publics by the way of contemporary art exhibition in the gallery where their residency was located.
12 members of the ” Squad of Metaverse ” from both sides of the Taiwan Straits, six from each side , are young adult who grew up in the digital era, with an average age less than 25 majoring either in art or creative culture related fields. After being selected from their on-line applicants by the curator Nana Bee , these new talents with practical skills gathered in Beijing to have a mutual experience together . In addition to visit the city’s multicultural heritage and learn from generations, their conversation is all about art stuffs to meet with their cognitive system of Gen Z. They are not tired at all to demonstrate their expertise of this generation and willing to help each other.
In the simple but grand ceremony, a documentary about this intense journey of past five days was premiered, in addition, an certificate was honored to each member to encourage these Chinese youth from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. They have overcome “pain and difficulties” to complete their “mission of impassable” and finish artworks in time.
The Gen Z artists workshop is an project implemented by Nana Bee and associates in Center of Culture Creatives and Advertisement in Beijing. An open art exhibition will be hold after art exploration. This time it’s titled “Surge of Contemporary Art from Chinese Gen Z” to set up an example to new generation to live with a positive attitude and professional spirit. Representatives of various business group and directors of culture and creative industries are welcome to visit. With the hope to build up bright future together, project is head up to the world.
